How To Make The Most Of The Easter Break

How to make the most of the Easter break - Orlando Village

If you’re planning to spend the Easter holidays at home with your family, you’re probably looking forward to snoozing till noon and binge-watching your favourite TV shows whilst stuffing your face with chocolate.

Are we right?

Though it can be extremely tempting to do little more than relax during the festive break, it’s important that you use your time wisely.

By all means, treat yourself to the occasional lie-in – but make sure you set aside time to do some revision or read over your notes from lectures to refresh your memory. Once you’ve done something constructive, you can then think about “cracking” into that Easter egg.

Here Orlando Village shares 5 tips and tricks to help you be productive during the Easter holidays.

1.    Create a revision timetable

If you haven’t already made a start on your exam revision whilst staying at student accommodation, then we highly advise you to do so when you head home for Easter.

Having a timetable – either on your phone or displayed on the wall in your room – will allow you to see where you stand and what needs doing each day, to ensure you achieve the grades you so desperately want and deserve!

2.    Do some bedtime reading

Got younger siblings who always want you to play with them, after spending so much time away at uni? Perhaps there are too many distractions during the daytime?

If you’ll struggle to get things done, you could open up your revision notes when little ones have gone to bed or when there’s less noise to divert your attention.

Alternatively, pick up a book you’ve wanted to read for a long time. Not only can it help to boost concentration but it can also spark your imagination – encouraging those creative juices to flow!

3.    Try some new recipes

Our student accommodation in Bolton has a shared kitchen that’s fully equipped, allowing you to follow student-friendly recipes and whip up tasty meals with the help of your flatmates.

However, most students miss their parents’ home cooking when they move away to uni, so why not ask them to help you master a new recipe whilst you’re at home for the Easter hols?

Whether it be sugary snacks or hearty plates of food, this is the perfect time to improve your culinary skills and broaden your existing repertoire.

4.    Get some fresh air

Aside from taking time to revise for upcoming exams, you also need to make sure that you get out and about – either with your family, friends or on your own. Sitting in your room for hours on end, only moving to go to the bathroom or fridge, will not do you any good.

Go for a bike ride or a jog around the block to exercise your body and mind. Alternatively, arrange to go on a hike to take your mind off your studies after cramming lots of information in, or walk to the shops instead of driving.

5.    Reward yourself

Spreading everything out, rather than leaving it to the last minute, will allow you to make the most of the Easter break.

After doing some revision in the morning, you could enjoy fun-filled activities in the afternoon with younger relatives – such as Easter egg hunts, painting patterns onto eggs or melting chocolate in a bowl and coating strawberries!

Failing that, you could always treat yourself to an Easter egg (or three), making it all the more worthwhile and giving you something to look forward to. Or just give yourself the day off revision on Easter Sunday, so you can spend some quality time with your loved ones.

What will you do during the Easter holidays?

These are just some of our top tips for utilising your time effectively whilst away from uni, ensuring you’re prepared for the looming exam season.

You’re bound to have lots of exciting things to look forward to as well – especially after plans were put on hold the last two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However you choose to celebrate the festive season, just remember not to neglect your study notes. And from all the team at Orlando Village, Happy Easter!
