Valentineβs Day is coming up, and whether youβre celebrating with a special someone or your Galentineβs crew, nothing says βI appreciate youβ like a handmade gift! If you canβt make it to our Bath Bomb Craft Event on February 11th, donβt worry β weβve got you covered. Hereβs a simple, at-home recipe for creating your own DIY bath bombs β perfect for treating yourself or someone special.
What Youβll Need ποΈ
Dry Ingredients:
- 1 cup baking soda (makes the bath bomb fizzy!)
- 1/2 cup citric acid (found in baking sections or online)
- 1/2 cup Epsom salts (optional, but great for relaxation!)
- 1/2 cup cornstarch (helps hold everything together)
Wet Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 tbsp coconut oil (or any carrier oil like almond or olive oil)
- 3/4 tbsp water
- 10-15 drops of essential oils (lavender for relaxation, peppermint for energy, or rose for romance!)
- A few drops of food colouring (optional, but makes them look amazing)
Extras:
- Silicone moulds or a bath bomb mould
- Dried flowers, glitter, or biodegradable sprinkles for decoration (optional)
How to Make DIY Bath Bombs at Home πβ¨
Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salts, and cornstarch. Stir well to make sure everything is evenly distributed.
Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients
In a separate small bowl, whisk together the coconut oil, water, essential oils, and food colouring. This will be your fragrant, colourful binder!
Step 3: Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients
Slowly add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients while continuously stirring. The key is to pour very slowly while stirring quickly to avoid premature fizzing. The mixture should have the texture of damp sand β crumbly but holds its shape when squeezed.
Step 4: Mould Your DIY Bath Bombs
Scoop the mixture into your chosen moulds and press it down firmly. If youβre using round bath bomb moulds, overfill both halves slightly before pressing them together.
Step 5: Let Them Set
Leave your DIY bath bombs to dry for 24 hours in a cool, dry place. Once hardened, carefully remove them from the moulds.
Step 6: Enjoy or Gift! π
Drop a bath bomb into warm water and watch it fizz! Wrap them in cute packaging with a ribbon for a thoughtful homemade gift.
