After three or more years of studying at university, countless late-night revision sessions at student accommodation in Bolton and too many nights out to recall, it’s your turn to don your cap and gown and graduate.
That’s right Class of 2021/22 – this July, we are celebrating YOU at The Albert Halls!
Graduation is one of (if not) the most important milestones in your educational journey. It marks the transition of going from a student to the world of work and allows you to look back at everything you have achieved over the last few years.
With graduation day just around the corner, it’s natural to be feeling a little overwhelmed.
Here the team at Orlando Village offer 5 top tips to help you prepare for the main event, without letting the nerves get the better of you.
1. Set your alarm and make breakfast
You’re bound to have 101 things to do on graduation day. However, it’s crucial that you get enough shut-eye the night before. After all, you don’t want to look half-asleep in the photos, do you?!
It’s also worth eating a hearty meal before you head out the door. This will help to curb pangs of hunger mid-way through the ceremony.
2. Decide where you’ll park beforehand
With hundreds of students and families attending The Albert Halls this July, it’s likely that you’ll all want to park as close to the venue as possible.
Though it’s a good idea to allow yourself plenty of time to look around for a parking spot, you may consider an alternative travel option (i.e. book a taxi or hop on public transport). The venue is less than a 10-minute drive from our student accommodation in Bolton.
3. Plan your outfit wisely
Of course, you want your hair and make-up to be lovely, and your outfit to look on-point, but you also need to remember that you’ll be wearing a cap and gown on the day.
Bear in mind that dark colours tend to absorb more heat than lighter shades. And wearing heels that are too high or shoes that are uncomfortable isn’t recommended when you’ve got to walk across the stage to collect your certificate and smile for the camera!
4. Order your cap and gown
It may seem like the most obvious thing to do, but you’d be surprised how many students leave cap and gown hire to the last minute! Don’t make the same mistake – order yours in advance so you can try them on for size and check for imperfections.
On the day, style your hair around your graduation cap, and keep a couple of hair clips handy to ensure it doesn’t fall off your head.
5. Check the ceremony agenda
Find out what time the event starts and try to arrive at least 2 hours before. This will allow you to pick up your cap and gown (if you haven’t already got them) without having to rush around. Who knows, maybe you’ll have time to get a few photos with your coursemates and housemates before it starts!
If you have invited family and friends to your graduation, make sure they know what time they have to be there and where they need to go.
Follow these 5 tips when preparing for graduation, and you won’t go far wrong!
From all the team here at Orlando Village, “Congrats Graduates! And the very best of luck with your next venture!”
